Welcome to Gilly Farm & Garden!
My name is De and along with my husband, Greg, we operate our 5 acre hobby farm located west of Rodney, Ontario, Canada.
It’s here on our small plot of land that we grow all sorts of veg, herbs, fruit, nuts and flowers. We are in good company with our sheep, pigs, ducks, dogs, cats, bunnies, and wildlife galore. Most of our residents have been rescued from neglectful homes and have come here to retire. We do, however, fully support sustainable farming practises and will be making space this summer for chickens to harvest for meat.
Although we are not off-grid, we do enjoy implementing sustainable methods such as rain water collection, no-till gardening, compost and compost tea fertilizers, woodfire cooking and food preservation techniques.
Ourselves along with our farm animals and gardens thrive on natural, organic and proven methods of growing, healing and maintaining optimal well being.
Our responsibility is to properly steward this land by working alongside nature with regenerative farming methods and closed-loop farming systems.
This year we plan to open our farm and garden to the public for the purposes of learning and growing together to better serve the community about self-sustainability. We look forward to introducing workshops, demonstrations, project builds and farm tours. Many topics include: seed saving, medicinal teas, native plant walks, sheep shearing demos, herbalism, essential oil making, food preservation, wildcrafting and garden-to-table meals in the Glasshouse.
We also have a small market shop where we sell dried teas, seeds, plants, decor, fresh flowers, veg, eggs, wool and anything else in season.
Thank you for popping by and we hope you can come visit our farm this year!
